iCare Data Recovery

iCare Data RecoveryDid you ever erased or formatted a partition by mistake? You’ve ever deleted a file with Shift+Delete, or emptied the Recycle Bin by mistake and lost very important files? No problem! We present a simple and professional data recovery solution that your data will always be safe with: iCare Data Recovery.

How does it work? If you accidentally delete a file on the disk, that file will not be removed immediately. Instead the file references are removed from the directory structure and the space occupied by that file is made available for rewriting. If another file hasn’t been copied on the space made available for rewriting, it is possible to recover it. In the case of formatting, or an accidentally deleted partition, data can be recovered in its raw form from the disk. But that only if a Quick Format has been performed. A full format erases all data on the disk in the formatting process and the recovery is impossible. But on the other hand, an accidentally deleted a partition, is not a problem, because no formatting process has occurred and nothing was deleted from the disk, besides the deleting of the partition from the partition table of the disk.

iCare Data Recovery - Partision SelectionI had the pleasant surprise for the data recovery software to recover files that were on the disk over 20 formatting cycles ago. Obviously, the older the formatting cycle is, the higher the probability for the recovered data to be corrupt due to rewriting.

iCare Data Recovery - Scanning DeviceIn the case of accidentally deleted files, the recovery is simple, but it is necessary to know the location from which the files or folders were deleted. So after a scan of the entire partition, iCare Data Recovery will show all present or deleted files on that partition. However, the situation with the files is more volatile, because, if you copy another file on the partition after deleting the file you wish to recover, chances are that it will be written over the old file. So my advice is to not copy anything on that partition, if you accidentally deleted a file!

Unfortunately the software price is a bit high. The standard version costs $69.95. But my opinion is that the application worths all the money, because it saved me from disaster many times!

Okay, and where is the problem? Luckily I couldn’t find any problem so far with iCare Data Recovery, but instead the software is a solution to a problem that sooner or later we all encounter: the loss of important data.

  1. Efren Mauss says:

The most common “data recovery” scenario involves an operating system (OS) failure (typically on a single-disk, single-partition, single-OS system), in which case the goal is simply to copy all wanted files to another disk. This can be easily accomplished using a Live CD, many of which provide a means to mount the system drive and backup disks or removable media, and to move the files from the system disk to the backup media with a file manager or optical disc authoring software. Such cases can often be mitigated by disk partitioning and consistently storing valuable data files (or copies of them) on a different partition from the replaceable OS system files…

    • Of course. But that would also mean that you would need to know Linux command line. Most people aren’t advanced computer users and they have no idea what Linux is or how to even boot from a Live CD. So this piece of software makes it far more easier for them.
